How to Enjoy Cherry Spring in South Korea

Springtime in South Korea is a time of rebirth and magic, and cherry blossoms season is the best. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, plan a trip to the country and note the dates on your calendar.

With the pandemic looming large, 2023’s cherry blossoms season was a dismal event. However, we are looking forward to the spring of 2024 to get back its glory.

According to last year’s flowering timetable, these are the ideal spots to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Island of Jeju

The first signs of spring on Jeju Island are expected to appear in late March, making it the first place in the world to experience a pink spring. In addition to the beautiful coastal scenery and mouthwatering seafood, you’ll witness some of the island’s most giant flowers on the island’s many King Cherry trees. Stunning as they are, this large-petalled species only blooms for a few days in early April, so plan for your visit accordingly.

When to visit: Late March to early April is when the first flowers appear.

Jinhae

A ten-day cherry blossoms festival in Jinhae, a port city an hour’s bus ride from Busan, brings the port city to life. Military band parades, music concerts, and the star of the night-cherry blossoms trees are the main attractions during Jinhae Gunhangjae Festival. It’s possible that the celebrations, which were canceled for 2020, may return in 2024. Isn’t this the vacation of a lifetime? Book your flight to Busan right now!

Hwagae

A bus from Busan will take you directly to Hwagae Bus Station, where the Hwagae festival takes place. Before heading to the iconic 10-RI Cherry Blossoms Road, stop at the market for some unusual gifts and street cuisine. Couples who stroll along “Wedding Road” with their hands in each other are said to be married and have a happy life together, as people thought here.

Take a leisurely walk under the arches of cherry blossoms trees in Hwagae. Whether you’re here with a loved other, your own, or your family, this outing will be the best of your day.

Gyeongju

Located in South Korea, the city is home to the country’s largest collection of ruins and antiquities. Gyeongju, known as the “Museum Without Walls,” is a popular destination for history enthusiasts and viewers of drama and romance.

Sign up for the Gyeongju Cherry Blossoms Marathon for a unique way to experience the city. Springtime air and rows of cherry blossoms trees line the track, making it a joy to run with competitors from across the globe. Unfortunately, however, this event was canceled last year; we hope to immerse ourselves in such an atmosphere in spring 2024.
